Widgets
How do I add a widget to my Home Screen?
- Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
- Tap Edit in the top corner, then Add Widget.
- Search for “Vacation Countdown”, pick the small or medium size and tap Add Widget.
The widget shows a different trip than I expected.
By default every widget shows your nearest upcoming trip. To pin a specific trip, touch and hold the widget, choose Edit Widget, turn off Nearest upcoming trip and pick the countdown you want. You can add several widgets, one per trip.
The widget is empty or shows a placeholder.
Open the app once so it can refresh the widget data. If you have no upcoming countdowns, the widget invites you to create one. Widgets update on their own around midnight and whenever you save a countdown.
Calendar and reminders
Why does the app ask for calendar access?
Only so you can import an existing event as a countdown. Access is optional and read-only: the app never creates, changes or deletes calendar events. You can grant or remove it at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Calendars.
I am not receiving reminders.
Reminders are local notifications, so the app needs notification permission. Check Settings › Notifications › Vacation Countdown and make sure Allow Notifications is on. Then open the countdown, tap Edit and confirm which reminders are enabled (a week before, the day before, the morning of). Reminders arrive at 9:00 AM local time.
Destinations and photos
No photo appears for my destination.
Destination photos come from Wikipedia. Some places have no photo there, or the search matched a different spelling. Try a more specific name (a landmark or neighbourhood often works better than a country), or choose one of the built-in backgrounds instead.
Can I use my own photo?
Not yet. Today you can choose between a destination photo from Wikipedia and the built-in backgrounds. Custom photos are on the list; tell us if you would like them.
Vacation Countdown Pro
What is included in Pro?
Unlimited countdowns (the free version includes up to 3), premium backgrounds and accent colors, and every template. Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
I bought Pro but the app still shows the free version.
Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you used to buy. If it still does not unlock, contact us with the receipt email from Apple.
How do I cancel or change my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Vacation Countdown and cancel or change the plan there. Apple explains the steps at support.apple.com/HT202039. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Your data
Do I need an account? Is my data synced?
No account is needed and there is no cloud sync. Your countdowns live on your iPhone (and in the device backups iOS makes for you). To move countdowns to another device, use export and import.
How do I move a countdown to another iPhone?
Open the countdown, tap the share button and choose Export file. Send the .vacationcountdown file to the other device (AirDrop, Messages, Files) and open it there: Vacation Countdown imports it.
How do I delete all my data?
Delete the app. Everything the app stores is removed with it. Anonymous diagnostics already sent are not linked to you; see the privacy policy for details.
